Pain
Pain, acute pain,
Strains my active brain
When I think of the loss,
When I think of the cause
Of my situation.
Pain, acute pain,
Although nobody’s doing me harm,
And nobody is pulling my leg or arm
Or the head off my neck.
I am the cause.
Pain, acute pain,
It’s not the body that suffers,
But my mind and my heart
Due to thoughts that dully
Carve down my heart.
Pain, acute pain,
Yet I boldly move on.
One would think it’s in vain,
But my stubbornness won
To lead me through hell.
Pain, acute pain,
Will it end? I can’t tell.
Will it stop? I hope so.
Will it cease? Or I will,
Oh, I’ll blank it out now.
