Reanimating Hopes
Should I give in to my destructive thoughts?
Yes, I defy that negative chatter!
The devil’s minion that, lingering, rots
Will certainly not rot my grey matter!
“Give in! You’re fighting a losing battle!
You know you can’t win; what hope do you seek?
Go join the countless herds of lost cattle
That graze my pastures all weary and weak.”
No, I refuse you! Go back to your hell!
Get sore if you wish, and drink pus you made!
This time I’m not alone, so I’ll be well
Without your endless, sorry serenade!
“Look at your mistakes! Still you haven’t learned
The lessons from your errors in the past!
Each time you reach out, you always get burned
If you don’t follow me, you will not last!”
Ha! Such blasphemy I have never heard!
I esteem highly my choice and will!
I’ll pick your rotten seeds out like a bird -
Those seeds my stomach, not my mind, will fill!
“But your weak choices, lack of seasoning
And aimless searches death soon will induce!
What does your worthless line of reasoning,
Other than disillusioned hope, produce?”
Hark! You’re the damned product, and leave you will!
I’ll expel you from my soul forever!
While you destroy me, I will not sit still
To watch you grin and crush my endeavor!
