Defining Poetry: The First Session

Most absurd of tasks I have been assigned:
“What’s poetry? Have it clearly defined!”
I’ve given it thought, but I’m still blurry
On the details. Is there need to hurry?

About poetry Great Poets did write,
But that is no reason for me to fight
Myself to force it to happen. I’ll wait
Till I can get my definition straight.
